Recent acquisitions

The Library recently added two collections of papers of missionaries who served under the Universities' Mission to Central Africa in the 1800s. J. Andrew Blair was a printer who joined the Mission in 1861. His journal dating from 1861 to 1864 describes his travel to and within Africa, interactions with Dr. David Livingstone, and efforts of the Universities' Mission to Africa to establish work in what is now Malawi. Henry Charles Goodyear served as Deacon and Archdeacon in Zanzibar (Tanzania) from 1883 until his death in 1889.  Letters, a journal, and photographs document his work.  These papers form part of the Library's Miscellaneous Personal Papers Collection.
