Architect's rendition of the renovated Manuscripts and Archives reading room

The iconic Manuscripts and Archives reading room along the Wall Street side of Sterling Memorial Library will be closed during 2017 for renovation. We will provide all public services to researchers in the Franke Family Room, off of the Nave in Sterling Memorial Library through Friday, December 15, 2017. We will be closed to move back into our newly renovated space from December 16, 2017, through January 15, 2018. We will reopen for researchers on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. In 2020, the Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives (HMH) in Honolulu will celebrate the Bicentennial of its founding. A young Hawaiian prince, Henry Obookiah, who arrived in New Haven in 1809 and was educated by Yale students and alumni, began the rich association between Yale graduates and the Hawaiian Islands.
