Admissions

The Yale University Archives seeks to collect documentation concerning student admissions at Yale. Specific topics of interest include:

  • Recruitment and admission of students
  • The academic record, qualifications, and cultural and geographical background of individual students who are admitted to and enter Yale
  • Development and implementation of directives, policies, and procedures used to guide the recruitment and admissions processes
  • New policy, procedure, initiative development in either of the above areas

Archival Records

Examples of records of interest to the Archives, regardless of format:

  • Admission reports and other summary information relating to student admissions
  • Lists of admitted students
  • Meeting minutes and supporting materials
  • Policies and procedures
  • Publications and websites (see Depositing Official Yale Publications)
  • Statistical and demographic analyses of the applicant pool, admitted student body, and entering freshmen class students

Office of record

Provosts, deans, admission officers, and registrars maintain the record copy of documentation concerning admissions and recruitment.
