Manuscripts and Archives Tutorial

The web tutorial Using Manuscripts & Archives: A Tutorial: An Instructional Tool for Finding Manuscript and Archival Materials at Yale and Beyond, which was formerly located at

http://www.library.yale.edu/mssa/tutorial/

is no longer being maintained by the Manuscripts and Archives Department of the Yale University Library. We hope to recreate and contemporize the tutorial at some point when resources are available for this project.

In the meantime, here are some possible options for those seeking assistance with finding and using manuscript and archival collections:

  • The Internet Archive captured the Yale tutorial 90 times between 2000 and 2012. The 5 November 2010 capture is available here.
  • Many libraries provide online tutorials and other tools for finding and using primary sources. Try a simple Google search for the terms ‘primary source tutorial’.
  • Feel free to contact the Manuscripts and Archives Department at mssa.reference@yale.edu if you have questions about finding aid using primary sources.
