How to Find and Request Fortunoff Materials

To locate testimonies for viewing in the Manuscripts and Archives Reading Room at Sterling Memorial Library,or at any of our partner sites, search for testimonies in Orbis, Yale's online public access catalog. For assistance with searching Orbis for testimonies see our Orbis Search Tips page, or contact the Fortunoff Archive.

Once you locate testimonies in Orbis you will need to click "Request for Use in Manuscripts and Archives" under the “Location” heading in the bibliographic records for each testimony. This will take you to Your Special Collections Account, where you can log-in or register if you have not already done so.

If you have not registered, you will need to create an account for Yale University Library's Special Collections (Aeon) before requesting and viewing testimonies. It is only necessary to register once for all of Yale University Library's special collections. For more information on registering see Registration Process

After the registration process is complete, you can request additional testimonies by again locating the testimonies in Orbis, clicking on the link "Request for Use in Manuscripts and Archives" and completing the online form.

You will receive an automated email confirmation for each request. Do not proceed to the Manuscripts and Archives Reading Room at Sterling Memorial Library, or the designated workstation at one of our partner sites, until you have received a second email approving your request. We require up to three business days to approve requests.

Once approved you can view the testimonies at a dedicated workstation at Sterling's Manuscripts and Archives Reading Room, or at a partner site.
