Digitization Working Group

Reports To: Daniel Dollar

Committee Charge:

Investigate ways of improving and standardizing services; explore options that could lead to increased efficiency and elevated service, which may include some degree of centralization; and identify distinctions among the types of digitization/reformatting for the purpose of specifying the degree to which each is suitable for any proposed standardization or centralization.

The following should be considered:

a. general and special collections

b. print, audio-visual materials, and three-dimensional objects

c. access, preservation, special digitization, and multi-spectral imaging

d. analog-to-digital and digital-to-digital reformatting versus format migration for digital preservation

e. large scale versus special-request services
