Consultation and Teaching

Successful conservation treatment for special collections requires comprehensive knowledge of the chemical composition of collection materials and their associated degradation mechanisms.  Conservators of library collection must also be familiar the history of printing, bookbinding, papermaking, and photographic processes.

SCC Conservators are available to consult with Library staff, faculty and students regarding the creation, history, and original uses of various types of objects. Conservation expertise can enhance research and study involving the interpretation of material evidence and culture.
