Manuscripts and Archives will CLOSE from Monday, December 12, 2016 through Monday, January 16, 2017 in order to temporarily relocate our reading room to the Franke Room, to the left as you enter the main (High Street) entrance to Sterling Memorial Library. During the renovation—from Tuesday, January 17, 2017 through late November 2017—we will provide all public services to researchers in the Franke Room. See our Manuscripts and Archives Renovation Information website for additional information.

William also fathered Theodore Dwight Woolsey, Yale’s anti-slavery President during and after the Civil War.
