Yale Divinity Library | Record Groups 11 - 11i
The Yale Divinity Library holds the official archives of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) and its antecedent bodies. The records date from 1882-2006 and are divided into ten accessions. While sections of the archives are available in digital format, the majority of the material must be used at the Divinity Library; requests can be made from within the finding aids that describe the collections. Scholars who wish to publish materials from the collections are invited to email the Divinity Library.

Record Group 11 (1882-1977; linear footage 206')
Record Group 11 represents the initial accession of materials, received in 1982. It contains records related to the Board's early work in China, including regarding the following institutions: Fukien Christian University (7.5'); Ginling College (15'); Hangchow Christian University (1.5'); Huachung Christian University (5'); Hwa Nan College (1'); Lingnan University (4'); University of Nanking (21'); St. John's University (.25'); Shanghai University (.5'); Shantung Christian University (Cheeloo) (11'); Soochow University (1.5'); West China Union University (10'); Yenching University (33').
Portions of Series IV. China College Files and Series V. Audio-Visual Materials have been digitized and are available online. Access to fragile originals is restricted for materials that are available in digital format.

Record Group 11A (1904-1983; linear footage 115')
Record Group No. 11A represents a continuation of the archives of the United Board, supplementing and overlapping with the papers in Record Group No. 11. These archives document the work of the United Board as it sought to redefine its policies and goals following the closing of mainland China in 1951.
Record Group 11B (1938-1988; linear footage 68')
This group contains continuing documentation of the Board's programs and initiatives as it supported educational work primarily in India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, The Philippines, Republic of China (Taiwan), Thailand, and Vietnam.. Records for individual institutions are most substantial for Satya Wacana Christian University in Indonesia, Silliman University in the Philippines, Tunghai University inTaiwan, and Yonsei University, Korea.
Record Group 11C (1895-1994; linear footage 38')
These records date primarily from 1979 to 1990 and cover the period of time when the UBCHEA was beginning to reinstitute programs in the People's Republic of China.
