Scholarly Communication and Collections Steering Committee (SCCSC)
Charge: The Scholarly Communication and Collections Steering Committee is charged with providing strategic leadership and vision regarding scholarly communication and collection development. The steering committee will analyze issues and distribute information about scholarly communication and collections, including how collection development is being affected by scholarly communication and vice versa. The committee will monitor trends and developments that benefit or threaten participation in, and access to, the scholarly environment. It will serve as a starting point for approaches to preparing our campus communities to manage and leverage changes in the scholarly communication system.
The charge includes:

Exploring, identifying and recommending collaborative opportunities to advance library support for Yale scholarship and the library's holistic collection development and management strategy

Decision-making and review on matters brought forth from Collections Advisory Group and the Scholarly Communication and Openness Advisory Group

High-level budget planning and fund management and allocation

Thoughtful analysis and engagement on new, current, and proposed software and platforms under its purview, including EliScholar and Pressbooks. As appropriate, the committee may refer proposals to the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC) as part of the Library’s IT Guidance Process.

Scholarly Communication and Collections lifecycle or workflow policies and procedures

Creation and review of collection development values and policies

May charge task forces to carry out workflow or lifecycle-related projects

Promoting dialogue about relevant scholarly communication and collection lifecycle topics among library staff

Overseeing and delegating work to the Advisory Groups
Meeting frequency: Every other month
