SML Collections Management Advisory Group
The SML Collections Management Advisory Group manages the physical collections in the Bass Library, Starr Reference Room, and the L&B and Periodical Reading Rooms. While the group does not manage the reading rooms on the upper floors of SML, its work can serve as a model for managing collections in those spaces. The group will communicate decisions and recommendations to the Scholarly Communication and Collections Steering Committee as needed.
Areas of responsibility include budget and fund management, selection, acquisitions, assessment and evaluation, and collection maintenance.
Duties include:
- Collection development policies and guidelines
- Budget and fund management
- Quantitative and qualitative assessment
- Collection maintenance guidelines and processes
- Preservation policies and plans
Frequency of meetings: FY25 and FY26 - monthly; quarterly meetings thereafter

- Head of Collection Strategy (chair FY25-FY26)
- Central Collection Strategist (chair, as of FY27)

- Humanities Librarian - Librarian for English and Comparative Literature
