On April 19, at 4 p.m., the American Chamber Players will present Yale Library’s inaugural Miles Hoffman Concert at the United Church on the New Haven Green. The ensemble’s innovative repertoire ranges from classic works and neglected masterpieces to newly commissioned American compositions. The concert is free and open to the public.
This newly established Yale Library concert series—sponsored by the Irving S. Gilmore Music Library—was endowed through the generosity of Dr. Jeffrey V. Ravetch ’73 in memory of his friend and Yale College classmate Miles Hoffman ’73. Hoffman, who was a prize-winning violist and eminent classical music commentator on NPR, founded the American Chamber Players in 1985. Hoffman died in August 2023 at age 71.
Each spring, Yale Library’s annual Hoffman Concert will bring to life music held within the library’s special collections. Future concerts will often feature Yale’s own student musicians and, when possible, will bring live performances into Yale Library spaces.
