SACO Coordinator Responsibilities

Goal: to provide leadership and expertise for Yale University Library’s SACO program, including proposals to update outdated headings and create new ones.
Current coordinator: Cate Kellett
1. Attend Authorities & Identities Advisory Group (A&IAG) meetings, advising on SACO matters and reporting on local SACO activities.
2. Coordinate SACO training sessions and presentations at Yale.
3. Provide guidance and support to catalogers submitting proposals.
4. Update SACO documentation on the Cataloging @Yale website as needed.
5. Gather and report SACO statistics.

Twice a year:

Due to the PCC Directory by April 15 and October 15.

Coverage is October 1-March 31 and April 1-September 30.

Call for stats at Yale April 1 and October 1, due April 10 and October 10.

Stats gathered are:

New LCSH: Proposals for new records in the LCSH, LCGFT, LCDGT, LCMPT, or CYAC vocabularies.

Changed LCSH: Proposals for updates to existing records in the LCSH, LCGFT, LCDGT, LCMPT, or CYAC vocabularies, including cancellation proposals.

New LCC: Proposals for new LCC numbers.

Changed LCC: Proposals for changes to existing LCC numbers.

Statistics are for the number of proposals submitted, not the number accepted.

Catalogers are encouraged to enter their stats on the Technical Services Cataloging Stats on yale.libinsight.com. They may also email the stats directly to the SACO Coordinator.
6. Monitor the SACO-l listserv and other information sources related to subject work. Report to Yul-cat as needed.
