Reflections on the First Anniversary of the Library's Digital Strategy: A Conversation with University Librarian Susan Gibbons

Time flies. It is one year since Susan Gibbons announced a digital strategy for Yale University Library, addressing issues of policy and governance, technical infrastructure, and metadata standards. There's a lot more to digitization than meets the eye, such as the need for digital preservation and the navigation of legal issues. Susan Gibbons, the University Librarian, recently had a conversation with Elizabeth Beaudin, Director of Digital Initiatives, about this first year.

Borrow Direct service now extends to University of Chicago

As of July 31, users of the Yale University Library’s Borrow Direct service can request circulating materials from the University of Chicago Library. In addition to providing access to materials in the libraries of all eight Ivy League institutions (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Princeton, and Yale), Borrow Direct now includes access to non-Ivy libraries, Chicago and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
