Individual Courses

The Yale University Archives seeks to collect documentation concerning teaching and learning in individual academic courses at Yale at all academic levels. Specific topics of interest include:

  • Course content
  • Teaching styles and methods
  • Expectations and standards for student evaluation
  • New policy, procedure, initiative development in any of the above areas

Archival Records

Examples of records of interest to the Archives, regardless of format:

  • Course syllabi and reading lists
  • Lecture notes and/or transcripts of lectures by selected faculty
  • Publications and websites (see Depositing Official Yale Publications)
  • Summaries of student evaluations
  • Selected video and audio recordings, and photographs of classroom lectures, work, and presentations

Office of record

Deans, instructors, and the Classes server (classes.yale.edu) maintain the record copy of documentation concerning individual courses.
