Teaching and Learning Opportunities with the Divinity Library

Connecting students with research materials and archival collections is a teaching and learning initiative of the Yale Divinity Library. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with Yale and non-Yale faculty, graduate instructors, and liaison librarians. We also encourage you to consider hosting your class or course with us as we help your students locate, study, and use our extensive array of primary and secondary resources. Engagement with our research databases, Web content, and special collections and archival materials can open windows onto the past, foster opportunities to produce original scholarship, and inspire critical thinking and application skills that can result in a course project or paper.

Divinity Library staff can provide you with one-time class sessions resulting in an overview of the physical and digital resources of the Yale University Library. These sessions might include a review of primary sources (https://primarysources.yale.edu/) or more in-depth assistance throughout a semester-long course by providing assistance with access to and navigation of our Archives at Yale platform (https://archives.yale.edu). We can offer and reserve sessions in the Divinity Library Classroom (L-104), the Special Collections Reading Room, and online through our Zoom video conferencing system. We can also hold archival materials on reserve in our Reading Room for student course work throughout the semester.

We encourage faculty, graduate instructors, and liaison librarians to contact us to collaborate on possible opportunities to connect our resources with your curricular needs. In the past, we have collaborated with instructors in African American studies, English, Film studies, History, Latin American studies, and Religious Studies and we look forward to thinking creatively about how our materials might fit into your class.
