Glass lantern slide from the Lin Collection, acquired by the Yale Divinity Library in 2016. The Lin Collection is a curated set of photographs and printed materials visually documenting Chinese society through the eyes of Western missionaries. Consisting of ca. 900 original photographs, printed materials, rare books, and other artifactshis, the collection pays particular attention to cross-cultural interactions between China and the West, the growth of Christianity in China in the early 20th century, and the development of the indigenous Chinese church.

Norvin Hein Papers

An Ohio native, Norvin Hein (1914-2018) earned a B.A. from the College of Wooster (1937), a B.D. from the Yale Divinity School (1946), and a Ph.D. from Yale University (195O). He spent most of the war years in India, working as an English instructor, for the Army Y.M.C.A., and as a chaplain’s yeoman in a U.S. Maritime Service training station.

Oxyrhyncus Papyri (Record Group 305)

The Andover Newton Oxyrhyncus Papyri Collection (Record Group 305) consists of sixteen items dating from the 1st to the 6th century CE. The most notable papyrus fragment (Oxy.P. 1230) relates to the New Testament text of Revelations 5,6. Other items include poetical and prose fragments, orders, contracts, receipts, letters, and a prayer. The Oxy. P. 1230 item is Papyrus 24 in the Gregory-Aland numbering system. It is a papyrus manuscript of the Book of Revelation, which contains only Revelation 5:5-8; 6:5-8.

Nepal Church History Project Archives

The Nepal Church History Project began in 1985 as an initiative of local church leaders in Nepal to research and collect materials relevant to the history of Christianity among the Nepali peoples. The objective of the Project was to preserve, maintain and update a comprehensive, organized documentary record of the Nepali Church from its inception, and to make available documents and information as appropriate to researchers, students, and other interested users.
