LSF 1 and LSF 2: Dual Vehicles for Special Collection Deliveries

Between FY 10 and FY 15, special collection traffic transported by LCS increased by 35%.  During the same period several new stops were added to the delivery route and additional service involving the transport of selected materials not shelved at LSF was introduced. In 2016 the combination of these two factors--escalating workloads and increasingly complex delivery patterns--necessitated splitting special collection deliveries onto two separate vehicles.  The following chart indicates the service points for each of these vehicles (designated as LSF 1 and LSF 2) and the order that deliverie

On Friday, December 18th, LCS staff gathered together to enjoy a mid-morning snack of bagels and coffee.  As a holiday gift from their managers, during this break staff members received personalized baseball caps with the unit’s initials embroidered on the front.

LCS also plans to close out the calendar year with a pizza party during the final week before winter recess begins.

HathiTrust Access for Yale Users with Print Disabilities

Eligible students, faculty and staff at Yale can receive access to in-copyright materials in HathiTrust. The materials must either be held currently, or have been held previously, at Yale University Library. 

Eligibility

Access to material is available to users with a print disability for which access to digital copies of library books is a reasonable and appropriate accommodation. A print disability may be a visual impairment, learning disability, physical disability or other disability that impedes a person's ability to access standard print.

Oacis Project

OACIS for the Middle East (Online Access to Consolidated Information on Serials) is a union list of serials from or about the Middle East. The mission of OACIS is to improve access to Middle Eastern serials in libraries in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. OACIS was hosted at Yale University until May 2014, when the American University of Beirut agreed to take over the responsibility of maintaining and overseeing OACIS. They are working on a new system to support this resource.

Research and Course Support

The Map Collection at the Yale University Library will be closed effective May 14, 2016.

Rare maps will be moved to the Beinecke Library in September 2016 after the completion of the Beinecke’s renovation.  These materials will not be accessible from May 14 - September 30.
