The International Festival of Arts & Ideas

The 21st International Festival of Arts & Ideas descends on New Haven for a 16-day celebration of arts and culture.  This year’s festival, held from June 10th-25th, is comprised of performances, lectures, and exhibitions from a diverse and dynamic lineup of participants.  The festival’s mission, “to create an internationally renowned festival in New Haven of the highest quality with world-class artists, thinkers and leaders…” promotes uniquely international and arts-rich programming.  

Module Ten of Archivision images added to Artstor

Six thousand new images from Archivision are now available for search and download, including Herzog & de Meuron’s DeYoung Museum, Taos Pueblo, and the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. These images, purchased by the Arts Library as a supplement to Artstor’s architecture holdings, are in Artstor along with the previous nine modules—bringing you close to 3 million images in total.

3/4: Yale/Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

The Arts Library will be hosting a Yale/Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Friday, March 4, from 5-8 pm.

With 5,077,437 articles in English and counting, Wikipedia is the world's largest encyclopedia. It is free and crowd-sourced, but depends on the interests of those who contribute. As a result, some topics are underrepresented or absent – for example, many women and women artists. Content is skewed by a lack of feminist participation. Let's change that.

Master Papermaker Amy Jacobs to speak at School of Art on 2/23

Amy Jacobs, of Dieu Donne papermill in New York City, will discuss contemporary practices that push the boundaries of papermaking by discussing projects produced in collaboration with artists such as Ann Hamilton, Do Ho Suh, James Siena, and Suzanne McClelland. Projects that include Dieu Donne papers can be seen at the Arts Library and the Beinecke Library.
