FY 15 Goals for Library Collection Services
The Library Shelving Facility (LSF), which is operated by the Library Collection Services unit (LCS), provides secure off-campus storage and transport of materials for the Yale University Library system.
Process for requesting transfer of material to LSF
Preparation for each year’s transfer begins at the end of the previous fiscal year in May. At that time, the LCS Manager solicits proposals from all library units concerning the materials they wish to transfer to LSF in the coming year.
On July 1, 2014, the library implemented the first phase of a planned transition from internal fulfillment of its shipping and receiving needs to reliance on YPPS, TR&S, and Campus Mail to supply those services. Our initial actions primarily focused on introducing changes in procedures governing two service areas: routine shipping of non-BD/ILL packages from SML and receiving for Acquisitions and ICSS. At the same time, the YUL also stopped performing several tasks associated with incoming and outbound US mail and turned these functions over to central university service prov
Library Collection Services (LCS), a relatively new unit within the library, came into being as a result of the consolidation of staffs from SML Shipping and Receiving (S&R) and the Library Shelving Facility (LSF).
Located in the lower level of the Haas Family Arts Library, the William H. Wright Special Collections Exhibition Area features three exhibitions per year that highlight materials from Arts Library Special Collections. Topics cover art, architecture, drama and the book arts.
