Library Collection Services
Shipping: Routine Shipments
Users of the shipping service provided by SML Shipping and Receiving (S&R) have always been required to complete a shipping memo and attach it to the item they wish to ship before placing it in the collection mail box located near the entrance to the Music Library. Now that all of the YUL’s shipping is handled by Yale Printing and Publishing (YPPS), this general procedure has not altered, but there are two small but significant changes to the shipping memo itself which users are now required to complete.
- First of all, the party shipping the item needs to supply a four-digit code that will serve as the unique identifier for her/his unit. The presence of this code will enable YPPS to relay the correct billing information to the Library Business Office for the YUL packages they process.
- Secondly, the shipper will be asked to include her/his e-mail address on the memo. YPPS will use this information to send e-mail notifications to staff members when their packages have shipped.
A list of the four-digit department codes is available on the LCS website as well as a copy of the revised shipping memo that will be required starting on Tuesday, July 1st (the two new fields users will be required to fill out are highlighted in yellow).
Questions about this procedure should be sent to the Director of LCS at michael.dimassa@yale.edu.
