Mod 4 Now Open for Business

On Thursday, January 12, 2017, the first materials were shelved in a newly renovated module at the LSF. The renovation of Mod 4, formerly occupied by the Yale University Art Gallery, was completed in November 2016.  Currently, Library Collection Services staff are still in the process of labeling all of the roughly 7,500 new shelves which the reclaimed module adds to the facility’s shelving capacity. Following the labeling process, the barcode affixed to each shelf will be scanned and additional information inputted through the use of a portable data terminal.  This information is then transferred and imported to the facility’s stand-alone inventory database.

Gary Burcheski, who manages daily operations at LSF, projects that all of the labeling and scanning should be completed by the end of the spring semester.
