Library Collection Services

News-August 25, 2016

The Mod 4 renovation at LSF continues apace and is, in fact, slightly ahead of schedule. The shelving installation is proceeding smoothly, while necessary repairs to the uprights in Module 8 have now been successfully completed.

Refurbishment of the HVAC unit which controls the mod’s temperature and humidity is still in progress.  When that portion of the project is completed, the unit will be placed back online and its performance monitored for an entire month to insure that its settings meet the library’s requirements.

Following the construction portion of the renovation, a good deal of work will still remain for LCS staff before the mod is ready to receive material.  The roughly 7,500 shelves will need to be labeled (each shelf receives a barcode and directional labels, three in all) and then location information will need to be collected via PDT and imported into the LSF’s inventory software.  The unit’s goal is to have all of this work completed in December 2016 before winter recess.
